About Portz and Jones

Your vision is our passion.

Portz and Jones was started in the 1950s by Ronald F Mills, OD, upon his graduation from the Northern Illinois College of Optometry. He worked as a solo practitioner until 1981 when Michael J Portz, OD joined his practice.

Dr Portz purchased the business in 1991 and they worked together until Dr Mill’s retirement in 2004. In 2006, Janet Wade, OD was welcomed into the practice where she worked with Dr Portz until her retirement in 2024. Dr Portz assumed many of Dr Wade’s patients and was pleased to find Drs Travis and Jessica Jones to assist with the workload.

The Joneses purchased the practice on Dec. 2nd, 2024 and are pleased to continue the tradition of excellent, personalized vision care best exemplified by the practice mission statement declared in 1996: “Provide state-of-the-art vision care services and materials at a reasonable and fair cost that meet or exceed our patient’s needs and expectations, based on the principles of courtesy, fairness, honesty, and trust; resulting in a successful business and an enjoyable and pleasant environment in which to work and grow
